Nanxiang at The Curve

December 19, 2006

 nanxiang.jpg

Nanxiang Mantou Dian is a famous 1900 Shanghai steam dumpling which business is still brisk till this day at the original shop. I tried Nanxiang outlet at Bugis Junction which I’m afraid is disappointing and long queue.

Nanxiang best selling steam dumpling should be enjoy slowly while it is still steaming hot. Avoid lip or tongue burn by sipping a little at a time – the dumpling’s contained hot soup, thru the opening of on top.

Nanxiang at The Curve is pricey RM77+ for 2 persons, not much filling-more like snack portion. I like the stir fry rice cake though some may find it a little salty. The serving is quite small.

Kanki Sushi have just opened opposite of the Nyonya kueh shop. Fresh and reasonably priced sushi, sashimi and bento which quality are equally good as any Japanese local & regular restaurants in Klang Valley. Soft and fluffy rice hand rolled with fresh ingredients.

Ying Ge Lou at The Curve

November 23, 2006

Food at Hakka restaurant – Ying Ge Lou set this establishment in its own direction, ethnic chinese food. Fluffy and hot brown rice. Omellete in chinese wine soup which almost knock me off. I am a lousy drinker. Good claypot dishes.

November 18, 2006

My next door neighbour-his wife is an excellent cook. Tonight she gave us 2 cute little – palm sized rice dumplings.. Hainanese style. I have never seen though I am a Hainanese. My husband and sons (including myself) were so in love with her rice dumpling… Let the pictures do the talking.

I want to give it a French name coz of its’ size. Hainanese little rice dumpling will be….

Mid Valley J-Card Day

MV J Card Day

I assigned my other half to Jusco member day war and he came back with 2 x 2 feet loaves of Gion Danish Bread (RM18 each) without the geishas. Very crispy when warmed up in a toaster oven and also good right from the bag. Good news for Penang bread lovers – it is going to be sold in Jusco Penang.

Enjoy some delicious pictures of Kluang Kopitiam bestsellers.

Hainanese chicken chop: I am a Hainanese but have never seen the gravy in tomato version. Traditionally supposed to be onion gravy but the chicken in Kluang Kopitiam’s version is fresh and yummy.

Skudai day trip

October 10, 2006

Arrived at Skudai at 8.30am. Looked like not much to eat. Fortunately found a coffeeshop with decent crowd. Only few stores operating. Walking around, inspecting what patrons have on their table – bowl, leftover, drinks, I decided to have laksa and my travel partner wanted to have chee cheong fun. It reminded me of primary school days. Soft tofu on the right, fresh flat rice noodle, bouncy fish balls, fish cake slices and beans sprout were nostalgic. Even the slightly spicy coconut soup tasted the same.

My travel partner had his chee cheong fun or steamed flat rice with sweet bean sauce and toasted sesame seeds.

On our way back to Klang Valley, the  haze was still around but tolerable for driving. Fortunately the weather was cool and good to sleep all the way home.

Chris Second Birthday Cake

October 7, 2006

pingu-cake.PNG

Terrace bakery at Mount Kiara did a good job for Chris recent 2nd birthday cake. Chris favourite cartoon show – Pingu, Pinga and their parents are on their North Pole home, complete with igloo, water impression of a pond, puddle and some pine trees. The kids could not resist touching the cake. I decided to set a little higher budget since his dad complained this is Chris first birthday cake. The cake tasted as good as it looks.
